TORNEYS

PWJ Architects were commissioned to redesign this large house in Surrey.  Retaining the existing Surrey vernacular character to the front facade, PWJ combined this with contemporary detailing internally and to the rear elevation to establish a modern family dwelling.  With minimal extensions and clever internal replanning, a scheme was derived that maximised the existing footprint without the need for extensive additions.

The ground floor was separated into formal entertaining areas and open plan family spaces.  Large format doors lead from all major rooms on the ground floor to the terraced landscaping.  A new feature staircase creates a focal point to the entrance hall leading to 5 double bedrooms with 4 bathrooms, including the new master suite within the reconfigured first floor.
