JASMINE COTTAGE

The brief was to design a contemporary family home within the garden of the clients existing bungalow and neighbouring property. The adjacent buildings dictated the character and external appearance of a chalet bungalow for the new dwelling.

In contrast to this, contemporary internal design maximises light and views hinged around a minimal cantilevered oak staircase with frameless glass balustrades. Centred under roof lights and with dramatic artificial lighting, the staircase becomes a feature within the house both day and night.

The final design provides contemporary open plan family living with a sense of drama and light that belies its more traditional external appearance.
