CHURCH ROAD

This project demonstrates how a relatively modest intervention can make a transformative difference to the way a home is experienced. PWJ were commissioned to refurbish the existing kitchen and introduce a small side extension, creating additional space while establishing a much stronger connection with the garden beyond. The original kitchen was a dark and enclosed space, so a key part of the design was to introduce natural light through a fully glazed roof to the new extension, dramatically changing the atmosphere and sense of space. The enlarged kitchen now feels bright, open and welcoming, with a seamless relationship between the interior and garden. By making a relatively small and carefully considered alteration, PWJ were able to completely change the character and functionality of the space, demonstrating that thoughtful design does not always require a major extension to have a significant impact on everyday life.
