This project demonstrates how a carefully considered, relatively small extension can have a significant impact on both the character and functionality of a home. PWJ designed a new dining space extending from the existing kitchen, creating a bright and inviting room with a strong visual connection to the garden. The extension is fully glazed, with an ingenious 45-degree sloping glazed roof designed to maximise the amount of natural sunlight entering the space while also providing an efficient solution for rainwater run-off. The distinctive form allows the new addition to feel light and contemporary while remaining sensitive to the existing property. By combining a simple intervention with thoughtful architectural detailing, PWJ have created a dining space that feels considerably larger, brighter and more connected to its surroundings, demonstrating how even a modest extension can transform the way a home is used and enjoyed.
